University of Helsinki Master's Scholarships for Non-EU/EEA Students (2025-2026)
TextThe University of Helsinki offers scholarships for exceptional international students outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, who wish to pursue a Master's programme. These scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, previous study success, and motivation to study at the University of Helsinki.
Scholarships Available for the 2024-2025 Application Round:
50% Tuition Fee Waiver: This covers half of the tuition fee.
100% Tuition Fee Waiver: This covers the full tuition fee.
Tuition Fees: Ranging from €13,000 to €18,000.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must meet the entrance requirements for a Master's programme at the University of Helsinki.
You must be liable for tuition fees (citizens from non-EU/EEA countries without permanent residence in Finland).
You must meet the visa and residence permit requirements for Finland.
You must have demonstrated academic excellence in your previous studies.
Scholarship Duration: Scholarships are valid for two years, provided you complete at least 55 ECTS credits per year. The progress of your studies will be reviewed annually, and the scholarship will continue based on your academic performance.
Application Process:
Explore the Master's programmes and select the one you wish to apply for.
Follow the application instructions and prepare the necessary documents.
Apply for the scholarship using the same application form as the Master's programme.
Submit all required documents.
Selection Process: Scholarships are awarded based on an overall academic assessment, including previous academic performance, motivation letters, and any additional grounds for the scholarship as stated in the application. The University’s strategic goals may also be considered. Scholarship recipients will be notified via their official acceptance email.
Please note that the scholarship programme is competitive, with a limited number of scholarships available.

Membership fee to the Student Union (HYY), including discounts on student meals at Unicafe and reductions in public transport.
Access to Unisport services at discounted prices.
Basic student healthcare fee must be paid directly to Kela, as per their instructions (from the fall semester of 2023 onward).
