AUA - Baker Worthy Student Scholarship Fund
TextThe Baker Worthy Student Scholarship Fund (formerly the AUA Worthy Student Scholarship) is established to assist worthy students from Africa who have documented financial needs. The scholarship is designed to support students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to learning but lack the financial resources to complete their graduate program at the African University of Africa (AUA).
Purpose:
The scholarship aims to provide financial support to students enrolled at AUA who are facing financial challenges but have the potential to succeed academically.
Guidelines:
Application Period:
Scholarship applications must be submitted between January 1–31 and July 1–31 annually or as otherwise announced.Submission Deadline:
All applications must be submitted by the last day of January or July, or as announced. Late applications will not be considered.Submission Method:
Applications should be emailed to scholarships@aua.ac.ke, ensuring all documentation is included.Review and Award Decision:
The Scholarship Committee will review applications according to the outlined criteria. Meetings to review applications will be held in the first week of February and August, or as needed.
Following the review, award decisions will be forwarded by the Scholarship Committee Chair to the University Management Board for final approval.Notification of Decision:
Students will be notified of the scholarship decision by email after University Management Board approval. The notification will include:The amount awarded in USD
If not awarded, reasons for the decision
Email copy sent to the School Dean
Scholarship Criteria:
Eligibility Requirements:
Students must have completed one full session of courses at AUA with a CGPA of 3.00 for the Master’s program or 3.33 for the Doctoral program.
Exceptions may be made for female students, students from AUA un-entered territories, or those with challenging backgrounds.
Required Documents:
Completed Application Form
Personal statement demonstrating financial need
Copy of Account Statement (can be provided by the Finance Office)
Agreement to write a thank-you letter to the donor and AUA if awarded
One letter of recommendation from an AUA faculty member, or alternatively:
A letter from the student’s home union/conference, employing organization, or local church.

Financial Contribution:
Students are expected to contribute to their financial responsibility through non-scholarship funds or student work credit.Scholarship Application:
Scholarships are limited to the annual amount available and will be applied to the student's current tuition fees, not to any existing debt.Eligibility:
Any matriculated student at AUA, whether at the main campus or extension sites, may apply.
