Job Description

As a Waiter at Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel, you will be the face of our exceptional food & beverage service. Your role is to provide personalized and knowledgeable service that ensures guests feel special, valued, and well-cared-for.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Assist guests with menu items in an informative and helpful manner.

• Have complete knowledge of beverage lists, promotions, menu items, and preparation methods.

• Follow safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages.

• Set up and tear down service stations.

• Take and serve food and beverage orders professionally and positively.

• Provide service that meets Fairmont’s standards.

• Foster a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

• Provide crisp, efficient service while building strong guest rapport.

• Handle cash transactions accurately.

• Adjust service flow to meet guest needs.

• Stay informed about the daily operations of the hotel and assist guests accordingly.

• Occasionally work behind the bar, ensuring the smooth operation of the outlet.

• Anticipate and respond to guest requests promptly.

• Ensure smooth operations for each table, clearing away used crockery and cutlery.

• Monitor and maintain cleanliness and replenishment at buffets, addressing guest requests as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Food and Beverage, preferably in a luxury hotel setting.

• Familiarity with Point of Sale Systems is an asset.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Excellent guest service orientation.

• Ability to balance conflicting priorities while maintaining excellent guest service.

• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Team-oriented and collaborative.
