Job Summary:

The Upper Primary Teacher will provide students with a safe and inclusive learning environment by designing and implementing appropriate learning instructions and activities aligned with the curriculum. The teacher will also manage student discipline and ensure the overall well-being of the learners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans for the section.

• Ensure smooth transitions between activities/lessons during class time.

• Develop and carry out assessments of learners based on the content—both summative and formative—according to the term syllabus.

• Set exams, review them with the section lead, administer them, mark, and upload results into the system.

• Safeguard the well-being of students, both physically and emotionally.

• Escalate behavioral issues that deviate from the expected learner behavior to the relevant office.

• Counsel and guide learners as needed and escalate when higher interventions are required.

• Provide spiritual guidance to students according to their respective faiths and ensure attendance at religious classes.

• Conduct remedial classes for students with learning gaps or those falling behind.

• Identify learners with special needs and recommend interventions for specialized support.

• Teach life skills to students on topics such as relationships, environmental preservation, and global citizenship.

• Organize and coordinate class activities, sports days, and excursions and attend these events.

• Develop activity and school budgets for approval by the Head of School at the beginning of each term.

• Participate in rotational school duties as required.

• Communicate and explain the school’s mission and vision clearly to students.

• Collaborate with the quality assurance department and implement feedback/recommendations provided afterward.

• Prepare teaching aids, presentations, and learning materials in a timely manner.

• Prepare monthly reports on performance, class activities, trips, and relevant updates.

• Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• P1 Certificate.

• Must be registered with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching experience.

• Ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities and work under strict deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to work with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.

• Ability to create and teach effective lesson plans related to the subject.

• Expertise in the subject matter to teach topics effectively.

• Knowledge of behavior management strategies to keep students engaged and focused.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Creative with engaging presentation skills.

• Confident in using technology to enhance student learning.

• Resourceful and capable of teaching effectively using available resources and student skill levels.

• Results-oriented with the ability to deliver desired outcomes.
