Tutorial Fellow - Medical-Surgical Nursing at Zetech University

Job Objective

The Tutorial Fellow will report to the Head of Department - Health Sciences and be responsible for teaching, research, clinical practice oversight, and supporting academic activities within the Medical-Surgical Nursing program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching:

    • Teach allocated courses in Medical-Surgical Nursing.

    • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality lectures and practicals at various levels, including new course development.

    • Oversee clinical practice, providing students with real-world learning experiences in hospital or clinical settings.

  • Course Development and Review:

    • Regularly review and update course content and materials as required.

    • Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development and curriculum changes.

  • Research:

    • Carry out research activities and write research grant proposals.

    • Present research papers at national and international conferences.

    • Disseminate research findings to contribute to academic and professional knowledge.

  • Mentorship and Career Guidance:

    • Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and staff, fostering academic and professional development.

  • Compliance and Academic Standards:

    • Ensure all academic activities align with the Nursing Council of Kenya standards.

    • Participate in university activities and contribute to the academic environment.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master of Science (MSc) in Nursing with specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Midwifery, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Community Health Nursing, or related fields from a recognized university.

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing or an equivalent degree qualification in a relevant area from a recognized and accredited university.

  • Registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification in Nursing, with progress in the research process.

  • At least 3 years of post-qualification work experience in a related role.

  • A valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).

  • Demonstrated potential for university teaching and research.

  • Strong research and teaching potential in Medical-Surgical Nursing.

  • Ability to engage students in practical learning experiences and foster academic growth.

  • Strong communication, mentorship, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment.
