Role Overview:
The Communications Authority of Kenya invites ongoing students to apply for a three-month attachment from January to March 2025. This program provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical experience in various departments such as:

  7. Monitoring, Inspection, and Regional Coordination

  8. Postal and Telecom Licensing

  11. Consumer Protection and Advocacy

  12. Public Education and Awareness

  13. Standards and Type Approval

  14. Universal Service Fund

  15. Research, Planning, and Quality Management

  16. Competition Management

  17. Legal Services

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Current student from a recognized university

  • Relevant areas of study aligned with the department applied for

  • Available full-time from January to March 2025

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) is a regulatory body that oversees the communications sector in Kenya: 

  • Established: The CA was established in 1999 by the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998 

  • Responsibilities: The CA's responsibilities include: 

    • Facilitating the development of the communications sector, including broadcasting, telecommunications, and cybersecurity 

    • Protecting consumer rights 

    • Managing competition within the sector 

    • Regulating retail and wholesale tariffs for communications services 

    • Handling complaints against licensed communication service providers 

  • Licensing procedures: The CA has procedures for various licenses 

  • Guidelines: The CA issues guidelines for the ICT sector 

  • Market structure: The CA segments communication services into a market structure 

  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): The CA's CSR activities include promoting the uptake of ICT, supporting national disaster mitigation efforts, and sponsoring sports
