SOFTWARE ENGINEERING MANAGER AT CIC

PURPOSE

Reporting to the Head of Digital, the Software Engineering Manager will lead the Digital Engineering team. The role involves recruiting and mentoring a high-performing engineering team, managing projects to ensure timely delivery, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive innovation and deliver scalable software solutions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing software engineering teams.

  2. Mentor and coach team members to foster professional growth and cultivate a positive, collaborative, and innovative team culture.

  3. Develop career plans and facilitate skills training for team members.

  4. Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software applications.

  5. Ensure timely project delivery within scope, meeting risk and quality standards.

  6. Establish and maintain engineering processes and coding standards.

  7. Advocate and implement modern software engineering practices such as CI/CD, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.

  8. Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex software projects.

  9. Collaborate with architects and engineers to design scalable, reliable, and efficient software solutions.

  10. Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership.

  11. Identify and drive opportunities for technical innovation.

  12. Manage budgets and ensure cost efficiency within the engineering department.

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES

Academic and Professional Requirements

  • Education:

    • Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

Experience Required

  • Relevant Experience:

    • Minimum of 10+ years of technical engineering experience.

    • At least 5 years of management experience.

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Proven technical expertise with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

  • Strong skills in software development, including programming languages, databases, and cloud technologies.

  • Experience in architecting and driving the implementation of large-scale distributed services.

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate teams, and resolve conflicts effectively.
