About the Department
Deloitte East Africa's Consulting Department provides strategic solutions for organizations to achieve growth, business optimization, and transformation. The department’s strategic planning capabilities help executives envision growth and align their organizations to deliver measurable impact. We are proud to be part of USAID’s Tujenge Jamii Project, which focuses on enhancing health services across four counties in Kenya.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Technical Officer – Laboratory to provide laboratory support and guidance in the counties of Baringo, Laikipia, Nakuru, and Samburu. This role is crucial for improving the delivery of HIV care services, including EID, PCR tests, CD4 tests, hematological tests, and more. The Senior Technical Officer will collaborate with county and sub-county teams to ensure the successful implementation of laboratory standards and services.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement the laboratory work plan in collaboration with county and sub-county laboratory coordinators.
Liaise with CMLTS/SCMLTs to enhance laboratory services for HIV care, including testing, infection prevention, and quality assurance.
Participate in quarterly donor review meetings and SIMS site visits.
Implement and review laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HIV care and treatment services.
Support commodity forecasting, procurement, and distribution of laboratory supplies in partnership with county teams.
Coordinate the performance of internal quality control and participation in external quality assessments for supported facilities.
Oversee HIV testing services (HTS) providers' proficiency testing to ensure quality testing.
Scale up HIV Recency Surveillance across the supported counties.
Work with NGOs/FBOs/CBOs to coordinate laboratory activities with the Tujenge Jamii Project.
Participate in county and sub-county Technical Working Groups (TWGs).
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences (7-9 years of experience) or a Master’s in Public Health or related field (5-7 years of experience).
Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
Experience in implementing HIV-related laboratory activities in a donor-funded project.
Knowledge of USG-funded programs and reporting requirements.
Documented HIV/AIDS laboratory training as part of continuing professional development.
Skills and Competencies
