Role Purpose:
The Senior Research Analyst will play a key role in supporting JAML by providing comprehensive research, market analysis, and insights that inform the company’s investment strategies. This role involves data gathering, financial modeling, and trend analysis to optimize investment portfolio performance and enhance decision-making.
Main Responsibilities:
Strategy:
Lead the development of a long-term research strategy aligned with JAML’s investment objectives.
Provide strategic forecasts and predictions on market trends and investment opportunities.
Innovate research methodologies to maintain a competitive edge.
Build and maintain relationships with external research firms, industry experts, and data providers.
Act as a thought leader by providing research insights to senior management and external stakeholders.
Benchmark investment performance against industry standards and recommend strategies for competitiveness.
Operational:
Conduct in-depth market research on local and global financial markets, including equities, fixed income, commodities, and alternative investments.
Analyze large datasets and economic indicators to offer actionable insights for investment decisions.
Build and maintain sophisticated financial models for trend forecasting and risk evaluation.
Generate detailed investment research reports, including market outlooks, sector analysis, and portfolio recommendations.
Conduct sector-specific research (e.g., healthcare, technology, energy) for deep insights into investment opportunities.
Apply quantitative analysis and statistical tools to identify investment opportunities.
Monitor macroeconomic trends (inflation, interest rates, GDP) and their impact on investments.
Assess potential risks and suggest strategies to mitigate them.
Ensure research adheres to regulatory frameworks and corporate governance policies.
Corporate Governance:
Adhere to corporate governance policies ensuring transparency and integrity in research processes.
Ensure compliance with research ethics, regulations, and conflict-of-interest management.
Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to conduct research within regulatory frameworks and best practices.
People and Culture:
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing within the team.
Mentor junior analysts and support their research skills and career development.
Promote diversity and inclusion in the team, leading by example to uphold JAML's values of excellence, innovation, and integrity.
Key Competencies:
Ability to deliver actionable research insights that influence investment decisions.
Leadership in developing research processes and managing junior analysts.
Ability to present research findings to senior management and the investment committee.
Ensure research aligns with JAML’s strategic objectives and investment philosophy.
Develop and maintain a research database for tracking industry-specific and macroeconomic trends.
Collaborate effectively with portfolio managers to incorporate research into investment strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
CFA Charter holder or relevant research certifications (preferred).
Relevant certifications in financial research or analysis.
Relevant Experience:
Minimum 3-4 years of experience in investment research, financial analysis, or related fields.
Proven experience in research across multiple asset classes and industries.
Strong background in quantitative analysis and financial modeling.
Experience working with institutional clients and presenting research findings.
Demonstrated experience in a regulated financial environment.
