Senior Officer - Collections

Job Purpose:
Responsible for managing a portfolio of delinquent (1-90 days past due) Term Loan and Overdraft facilities within the Corporate, Retail, and SME segments. Focus on implementing strategies within policy and regulatory guidelines to minimize credit losses and ensure portfolio profitability in line with SBM Bank’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor delinquent portfolios daily to identify reasons for delinquency and determine recovery strategies.

  • Use collections systems to follow up on overdue accounts.

  • Communicate with customers to recover arrears and negotiate repayment solutions.

  • Escalate cases requiring alternative recovery actions to management.

  • Collaborate with business teams to resolve delinquency issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of collections actions and follow up on pending items.

  • Address customer complaints and queries, escalating unresolved cases when necessary.

  • Adhere to compliance requirements, including prudential guidelines, risk management policies, and customer service standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a debt recovery function.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and database tools.
