Quantitative Field Interviewers - Samburu County & Turkana County

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution that generates evidence, strengthens research capacity in the African ecosystem, and engages policymakers to promote evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM).
APHRC, in collaboration with CIFOR-ICRAF, the University of Nairobi (UoN), PELUM Kenya, LSHTM, Oxford University, and Loughborough University, along with county governments (Laikipia, Samburu, Turkana) and relevant ministries, is implementing the Visibilize4ClimateAction Project. This initiative, funded by Wellcome, aims to understand the impacts of climate change on nutrition and mental health among vulnerable populations in East African drylands.
APHRC seeks qualified quantitative field interviewers residing in Samburu, Turkana, and Laikipia Counties for this project.
Responsibilities
Fully understand the study’s research objectives. Participate in training for data collection activities. Conduct household listing, surveys, and quantitative data collection per research protocols. Encourage respondents to provide detailed responses to survey questions. Ensure accurate and complete data recording. Take anthropometric measurements of primary caregivers and children under five. Submit interviews for daily verification and cross-checking by the team leader. Report challenges encountered in the field to the supervisor. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical research practices. Safeguard all assigned project assets.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of KCSE “C” plain; a degree/diploma in Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Health, Human Nutrition, or related fields is an advantage. Proven experience in quantitative data collection and electronic data capture (e.g., tablets). Residency in study counties: Samburu (Samburu Central), Turkana (Turkana North and Kibish Sub-County), and Laikipia (Laikipia West). Language fluency: Turkana County: English, Kiswahili, Turkana. Samburu County: English, Kiswahili, Samburu. Laikipia County: English, Kiswahili, Kikuyu, Pokot. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Full-time availability for the project duration. Prior experience with UoN, CIFOR-ICRAF, or APHRC research teams is an added advantage.
