Project Overview:
The Kenya Feed the Future Private Sector Activity (KPSA) is a $48 million USAID-funded project aimed at accelerating inclusive economic growth in Kenya. Running from 2024 to 2029, KPSA seeks to increase productivity for SMEs, smallholder farmers, and financial institutions by mobilizing $400 million in finance, creating jobs, and expanding access to healthcare services.
The Project Driver will play a critical support role by ensuring safe transportation of staff and materials, maintaining the project vehicle in optimal condition, and providing logistical assistance as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Driving and Transportation:
Transport project staff, consultants, and visitors to and from meetings, workshops, project sites, and other assigned destinations.
Provide airport transfers and ensure vehicle readiness at all times.
Adhere to all traffic regulations and enforce safety protocols, including mandatory seatbelt use.
Safety and Security:
Remain vigilant about security during drop-offs and pickups to ensure staff safety.
Follow established procedures in case of accidents and report incidents promptly to relevant authorities and Palladium.
Vehicle Maintenance and Documentation:
Conduct daily checks of the vehicle's oil, water, brakes, tires, and other components to ensure it is in good working condition.
Record and maintain trip logs, including distance traveled, fuel usage, maintenance schedules, and related costs.
Perform minor vehicle repairs and arrange for regular servicing with prequalified vendors.
Logistics Support:
Collect and deliver mail, packages, and equipment as assigned, maintaining accurate records of deliveries.
Ensure the vehicle is stocked with necessary tools and safety equipment, including a first aid kit and spare tire.
Monitor vehicle fuel levels and ensure it remains clean and ready for use.
Administrative Support:
Ensure all vehicle registrations, licenses, inspections, and insurance documents are up-to-date and retained in the vehicle.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with project personnel.
Provide additional logistical and administrative support as required by the Director of Finance and Administration.
Position Requirements:
Education and Certifications:
A high school certificate.
Valid driver’s license and Certificate of Good Conduct.
Experience:
Proven experience as a professional driver with a clean driving record.
Familiarity with Nairobi roads, neighborhoods, and GPS devices.
Skills and Attributes:
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, such as during rush hour traffic.
Polite and professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
Physical ability to lift heavy packages or luggage.
Additional Requirements:
Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50).
Flexibility to work occasional weekend and night shifts.
