Operations Manager (Silk Farming) – Homabay at Summit Recruitment

Salary: KES 75,000 – 150,000 (Approx. 1000 USD)

OVERVIEW

Our client, a prominent player in the silk industry known for producing high-quality and sustainably sourced silk, is seeking an Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will oversee and manage the operations related to mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, and partnerships with farmers, ensuring smooth and effective processes in silkworm farming.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mulberry Operations: Manage the daily operations related to mulberry planting, harvesting, and transportation to ensure efficient processes.

  • Planning & Scouting: Plan mulberry capacity, including land scouting and timely seedling propagation to meet the needs of silkworm farming partners.

  • Quality Control: Implement quality control measures and resolve operational issues to ensure adherence to processing standards.

  • Silkworm Rearing: Supervise silkworm rearing operations, ensuring processes align with SOPs and quality control guidelines.

  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement processes to enhance operational efficiency and increase productivity.

  • KPI Monitoring: Set and monitor KPIs for mulberry planting, silkworm farming, and cocoon output, making adjustments as required.

  • Farmer Partnerships: Manage contracts and relationships with mulberry farming partners to ensure alignment and successful partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Operations Management, Project Management, or related discipline.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ experience in managing field operations, logistics, and supply chain functions in a rural agricultural setting.

  • Skills: Strong expertise in project management, excellent planning and scheduling skills, and proven experience in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Community Relations: Proven track record in managing community relations, mobilizing, and training farmers.
