Position Details
Job Title: Manager, Safety, Health, and Work Environment
Job Ref: HR: KP1/5B.2/1/3/1992
Reporting To: General Manager, Human Resource & Administration
Key Responsibilities:
Implement strategies on safety, health, and work environment across the company.
Advise management on safety, health, and work environment requirements.
Implement Electrical Safety Rules and ensure compliance with safe working procedures.
Facilitate periodic reviews of electrical safety rules and safety work procedures in line with corporate requirements.
Promote compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, Permits to Work issuance protocols, and certification processes for operations.
Implement legal provisions related to safety, health, and work environment.
Promote a safe and healthy work environment across all company operations.
Coordinate safety, health, and work environment measures across the company.
Organize and participate in assessments/authorizations for system switching and working on the high voltage power system (staff, contractors, and electricity sector agencies).
Develop strategies to promote a safety awareness culture within the company.
Facilitate site safety inspections, equipment tests, and calibration verifications to ensure adherence to legal safety and health regulations.
Facilitate safety, health, and work environment training programs.
Nurture positive relationships with external organizations/agencies on safety, health, and work environment matters.
Develop and implement emergency procedures and disaster preparedness plans related to safety and work environment.
Participate in accident/incident investigations based on regulatory requirements and implement preventative actions.
Enforce audits, inspections, and monitoring compliance with safety standards and statutory requirements.
Promote environmental sustainability initiatives and coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments and monitoring for ongoing projects in line with environmental management laws.
In-depth knowledge of the OSHA Act and regulations.
Appointment Specifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
Advanced Training in Safety, Health & Work Environment.
Registration with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) or Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
Ten (10) years of working experience, with at least five (5) years in a supervisory role, preferably in Safety, Health & Work Environment.
Basic competency and authorization classes for electrical safety.
Understanding of company business and operational processes.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive results.
Creativity and innovation with high levels of integrity and ethics.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Customer-focused approach.

Current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
