Job Summary:

The Lower Primary Teacher is responsible for providing students with a safe and inclusive learning environment by designing and implementing appropriate learning instructions and activities in alignment with the curriculum. Additionally, the teacher will manage student discipline and ensure the overall well-being of the students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans for the section.

• Ensure smooth transitions between activities/lessons during class time.

• Develop and conduct both summative and formative assessments of learners based on the content outlined in the syllabus.

• Set exams, review them with the section lead, administer the exams, mark them, and upload results into the system.

• Safeguard the physical and emotional well-being of students.

• Escalate behavioral issues deviating from the expected learner behavior to the relevant office.

• Provide counseling and guidance to students, and escalate when necessary for higher intervention.

• Offer spiritual guidance in accordance with students’ respective faiths and ensure they attend their religious classes.

• Conduct remedial classes for students with learning gaps or who are falling behind in certain subjects.

• Identify students with special needs and recommend appropriate interventions.

• Teach life skills, including topics on relationships, environmental preservation, and global citizenship.

• Organize and coordinate class activities, sports days, and excursions, and actively participate in these events.

• Develop activity and school budgets for approval by the Head of School at the start of each term.

• Participate in rotational school duties as required.

• Clearly communicate and explain the school’s mission and vision to students.

• Collaborate with the quality assurance department and implement feedback and recommendations provided.

• Prepare teaching aids, presentations, and learning materials in a timely manner.

• Prepare monthly reports on student performance, class activities, and other relevant updates.

• Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• P1 Certificate.

• Must be registered with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching experience.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.

• Subject matter expertise to teach effectively.

• Knowledge of behavior management strategies to keep students engaged.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Creativity and engaging presentation skills.

• Confidence in using technology to enhance student learning.

• Resourceful and able to teach effectively with available resources and varying student skill levels.

• Results-oriented with the ability to meet desired outcomes.
