The company is looking for a qualified Legal Officer II, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to join the team and assist in managing and overseeing legal matters related to power purchase agreements, public-private partnerships, and international transactions.

Position Details
Job Title: Legal Officer II, Power Purchase Agreements, Central Office
Job Ref: HR: KP1/5B.2/1/3/1670
Reporting To: Chief Legal Officer, Power Purchase Agreements, Board and Regulatory Affairs Department

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct negotiations, drafting, and reviewing of Power Purchase Agreements, Public-Private Partnership arrangements, international, and bilateral agreements.
Implement the departmental work plan for Power Purchase Agreements and related transactions.
Perform legal research and analysis on various areas of law related to energy purchase, international, and bilateral transactions.
Provide legal advice on commercial and corporate transactions.
Ensure the Company’s transactions comply with corporate laws and regulations.
Provide legal opinions on issues affecting the Company.
Oversee the work of support staff, such as Legal Assistants, Legal Clerks, and Legal Secretaries, to ensure efficient service delivery.
Prepare reports and maintain records related to the department for effective monitoring and reporting to management.
Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Appointment Specifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized institution.
Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid Practicing Certificate.
Member of the Law Society of Kenya.
Minimum of four (4) years of post-admission experience in a busy law firm or public/commercial entity, including knowledge of Public-Private Partnerships, international transactions, and energy procurement (Gas, Oil, or Electric Energy).
Proficiency in computer applications.
Strong report writing skills.
Negotiation skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Drive for results and achievement.
Strategic thinking and leadership capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
