Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a State Corporation offering specialized healthcare, medical research, and education. KUTRRH, in partnership with the University of Manchester and other collaborators, has been awarded the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Project, which aims to improve oesophageal cancer survival in Kenya.
As part of this project, KUTRRH seeks to hire Truck Drivers on a part-time basis to support the mobile clinic. The role is integral to the logistics and operations of the mobile endoscopy clinic, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of medical equipment and staff across five counties: Kisii, Meru, Kiambu, Nakuru, and Nyeri.
Terms of Engagement: Part-time
Contract Period: 6 months
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate and maintain the mobile clinic truck, ensuring timely transportation of clinic and staff across the five counties.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in excellent working condition.
Coordinate with the team to load, secure, and set up mobile clinic equipment during transit.
Adhere to all traffic regulations and safety standards during operations.
Keep an updated log of vehicle maintenance, mileage, and fuel usage.
Report any mechanical issues or incidents promptly to the Project Manager.
Assist the clinical team in setting up and dismantling mobile clinic stations.
Provide general logistical support to the mobile clinic as needed.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Driving License: Valid Kenyan driving license with classes BCE and PSV endorsements.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience driving heavy commercial vehicles or medical vans.
Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of traffic regulations and vehicle safety procedures.
Mechanical Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor truck repairs and maintenance.
Certification: First aid certification is an added advantage.
Flexibility: Ability to travel and work across different counties.
Chapter Six Compliance: Fulfillment of Chapter Six requirements of the Constitution of Kenya (2010).
Key Skills & Competencies:
Ability to navigate rural and urban routes across the five counties.
Punctual, dependable, and detail-oriented in vehicle operation.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Familiarity with health or research environments is a plus.
Positive attitude, adaptability, and flexibility in dynamic work environments.
