IT Support Assistant

Job Summary

ACTSERV is an actuarial consulting firm seeking an IT Support Assistant to provide technical assistance across the company. This role will involve resolving IT-related issues, maintaining IT systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of infrastructure.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain IT infrastructure, both onsite and offsite.

• Provide user support, troubleshoot, and offer solutions for tech-related issues.

• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on company servers.

• Maintain local cloud infrastructure, set up, and configure systems.

• Set up, configure, and administer email servers.

• Manage the PBX system for VoIP calling, including pilot lines.

• Train users on system usage and technology-related tools.

• Monitor systems for uptime and minimal downtime across various entities (email, server, telephone lines, etc.).

• Perform data backup, storage, and restore systems for business continuity.

• Implement security monitoring, server hardening, and data protection practices.

• Provide training on information security, focusing on company-sensitive data.

• Manage VPN setup for remote working.

• Repair hardware and replace parts when necessary.

• Administer printer maintenance, including monitoring toner levels.

• Ensure email communication security by analyzing server logs.

• Handle cloud infrastructure virtualization to optimize hardware usage.

• Monitor and maintain CCTV and biometric systems.

• Research system improvements for optimal productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.

• Networking qualification (an added advantage).

• 2 years of relevant IT support experience, especially in desktop support.

• Experience in ICT infrastructure handling, setup, and maintenance.

• Knowledge of UNIX and Linux operating systems (preferred).

• Familiarity with Linux server administration and virtualization.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills.

• Attention to detail, initiative, and self-drive.
