Internal Audit Manager at CIC Insurance Group

Purpose:

The Internal Audit Manager will report to the Director of Internal Audit and be responsible for overseeing the General Insurance subsidiary audit of CIC Insurance Group. The role involves providing independent, objective assurance and consultancy services to enhance overall operations, focusing on the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess key risks and develop the annual audit work plan that aligns with the company’s highest risks, determined through an enterprise-wide risk assessment.

• Evaluate subsidiary management’s processes for identifying and managing business and financial risks.

• Plan and execute audit assignments for subsidiaries and support functions.

• Coordinate internal audit activities with other internal and external providers to ensure comprehensive coverage and minimize duplication.

• Ensure timely completion of audit engagements, with reports delivered to the Audit & Risk Committee without delay.

• Review audit workpapers, reports, and findings to ensure quality, accuracy, and relevance.

• Provide subsidiary management with reports advising on areas requiring attention.

• Prepare board papers for discussions with the Board Audit and Risk Committee(s).

• Monitor and report on critical internal control and risk management issues to the Board Audit and Risk Committee(s).

• Oversee the testing and implementation of Board Audit and Risk recommendations, reporting back to the Board.

• Promote high-quality standards, integrity, and ethics across the company.

• Stay updated on emerging trends, developments, and regulatory changes in internal auditing and insurance.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Director, Internal Audit.

Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Behavioral Competencies:

Academic and Professional Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field.

• Professional Qualification: CPA (K) or Chartered Accountant; Insurance Professional Qualification.

Experience Required:

• Relevant Experience: At least 8 years in audit, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

• Additional Experience: Experience in a Big 4 audit firm or a similar-sized organization to CIC Group is an advantage.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong understanding of the general insurance business.

• Knowledge of technological trends and software requirements for auditing systems.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and report writing.

• Critical thinking and strong decision-making capabilities.

• High integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality.

• Willingness to learn and grow in technical and business skills.

• Flexibility in mobility.
