About AFC:
Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) is a government-owned financial institution dedicated to supporting the agricultural sector in Kenya. The organization is looking for an ICT Officer to join its team and ensure the smooth operation of ICT systems to support the Corporation's activities.
Job Purpose:
The ICT Officer will be responsible for identifying system requirements, installing updates, and monitoring system performance to ensure that AFC’s ICT systems are operating efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
System Specifications and Requirements:
Confer with users to establish system specifications, analyze workflows, access requirements, and design system infrastructure.
System Installation and Configuration:
Plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server software and operating systems.
System Monitoring and Performance Tuning:
Perform system monitoring and analysis to ensure performance optimization; troubleshoot system software, networks, and management systems.
Conduct system load/stress testing and escalate application problems to vendors as needed.
System Security and Disaster Recovery:
Develop and implement system access controls, monitor and evaluate system performance, and establish disaster recovery policies and procedures.
Perform regular system backups and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
User Training and Support:
Design and conduct user training programs to ensure users are proficient in utilizing the systems.
Provide reference materials and ongoing support to users.
System Upgrades:
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to develop, test, evaluate, and install system upgrades and enhancements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 3 years of relevant experience in an IT department in a similar role.
Additional Qualifications:
Professional certifications in ICT (e.g., CCNA, mobile applications, data analysis, information security) are an added advantage.

Analytical Skills: Ability to assess system performance and resolve issues efficiently.
Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly.
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor and maintain system performance and security with precision.
