Job Summary:

The Head of Pre-School will oversee the daily operations and management of the preschool. The role ensures the school provides a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, in line with best practices and the institution’s policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring smooth and efficient running.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures in collaboration with the Deputy Head of School.

• Design and implement curricula and lesson plans that align with the Ministry of Education guidelines and the school’s requirements and policies.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the preschool’s educational programs and make recommendations for improvements.

• Manage and maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and progress.

• Evaluate student progress and implement interventions to ensure academic and social-emotional milestones are met.

• Prepare reports on preschool meetings and events for submission to the Deputy Head of School.

• Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions in coordination with the Deputy Head of School.

• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to early childhood education.

• Respond to inquiries from parents and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

• Foster a positive, inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes respect and kindness.

• Collaborate with parents and stakeholders to meet the needs of children and families.

• Ensure the preschool environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained.

• Assist in planning and budgeting for educational trips and events with the Deputy Head of School.

• Prepare and submit requisition lists for preschool materials (e.g., books and stationery).

• Attend meetings and conferences to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.

• Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution.

• Must be registered with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in education.

Desired Competencies and Attributes:

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.

• Strong knowledge of early childhood education theories and best practices.

• Proficiency in educational technology tools and platforms.

• Effective communication skills for handling internal and external correspondences.

• Proven track record in educational leadership (classroom administration, lesson planning, pupil assessment).

• Ability to design engaging lessons using various teaching methods.

• Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage the department and classroom.

• Ability to think critically and creatively.

• Ability to identify and respond to risk areas within the department.

• Effective people management and conflict resolution skills.

• Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of child development and behavior.

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
