Head, Business Performance

Reporting to: Director of Finance

Job Purpose:
This role is responsible for driving the provision of financial performance strategic insights, commentaries to business teams in delivering their annual objectives, reviewing new business initiatives and feasibility studies, preparing monthly reporting packs, financial modelling and forecasting, monitoring, reporting, analysing, and advising on resource allocation and prioritization, competitor benchmarking, and performance/adherence against financial plans throughout the business cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial modelling activity for strategic business opportunities and initiatives using a range of modelling and scenario building tools, ensuring rigorous testing of assumptions and risks to aid high-quality decision-making by the business.

  • Develop and implement processes for business planning, enterprise budgeting, performance monitoring, analysis, financial modelling, and post-investment review.

  • Oversee the business planning and budgeting cycle, including budget development and periodic performance reviews with business unit-wide reforecasting.

  • Undertake strategic and tactical commercial analysis of business opportunities and threats with business unit leaders.

  • Draw reliable and timely financial and non-financial data from a range of sources and provide thorough analysis, insights, and options to enable the business to make sound decisions.

  • Design and deliver ad hoc performance reporting and analytics for various business requirements, focusing on key value drivers in the enterprise.

  • Build a performance management culture through implementing robust budgets, metrics, and corporate targets.

  • Review IFRS9 model outputs, impairment drivers, and translate these for insights to business teams in a non-technical manner to inform business decisions.

  • Review investment spend and operating costs to identify cost-efficient initiatives and inform return on investments.

  • Ensure timely and quality board and senior management performance packs.

The Person:
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution. A Master's degree is an added advantage.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) or equivalent qualification.

  • At least 8 years’ experience in the finance field, with specific management experience in:

    • Financial Analysis & business performance management, including expert use of business intelligence solutions (e.g., EDWH, SQL, SAP BI, Power BI)

    • Business Partnering

    • Stakeholder management of senior and multi-disciplinary stakeholders

    • Managing a team at various levels of finance expertise
