About KPSA
The Kenya Feed the Future Private Sector Activity (KPSA) is a USAID-funded $48 million project (2024–2029) aimed at accelerating inclusive economic growth in Kenya. Through partnerships across various sectors, KPSA focuses on increasing SME productivity, market linkages, and mobilizing finance to drive inclusive growth. Goals include mobilizing $400 million in finance, boosting exports and sales, creating jobs, and enhancing access to healthcare.
Position Overview
The Grants and Subcontracts Specialist will oversee the management of USAID subawards and contracts under KPSA. This role ensures compliance with USAID regulations and Palladium policies while supporting the project's technical and financial objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
Procurement and Award Management:
Assist in the solicitation, advertisement, and evaluation of grants and subcontracts.
Draft agreements and related documentation for subawards.
Conduct due diligence and aid in negotiations with subawardees.
Compliance and Administration:
Ensure adherence to USAID and Palladium policies for procurement and grants.
Monitor fund utilization against work plans, ensuring timely usage.
Manage records in the grants management system and subcontract registry.
Support contract and subaward close-out processes.
Monitoring and Support:
Provide guidance on branding, marking plans, and monitoring grant implementation.
Coordinate with technical teams to review financial reports and ensure compliance.
Offer feedback to enhance the grants manual and related processes.
Reporting and Coordination:
Track and report on grants and subcontract activities.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including service providers and clients.
General Support:
Support project leadership and Palladium HQ with relevant tasks.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Procurement, or related fields.
2–3 years of experience in contracts, subawards, or grants management.
Experience with USAID programs and knowledge of its policies and reporting requirements preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to manage complex spreadsheets.
Familiarity with grants solicitation, procurement, and compliance processes.
Key Competencies:
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
Kenyan nationals are preferred.
Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
