About the Role
Burn is looking for a Global Business Manager responsible for driving the global expansion strategy, managing international business operations, and developing partnerships across multiple regions. The role involves analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and positioning the company’s products and services competitively on a global scale. This role will lead cross-functional teams to execute global projects, manage relationships with international clients, and oversee global sales and marketing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial KPIs & Performance Management
Set and monitor key commercial KPIs for international markets to drive revenue, profitability, and operational performance.
Collaborate with regional teams to align local strategies with global business objectives, ensuring the achievement of sales, market penetration, and financial targets.
Regularly review and analyze KPIs, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure consistent growth and optimal performance in expansion countries.
Expansion Country Management
Lead the business operations in multiple expansion countries, overseeing market entry, growth strategies, and country-specific execution plans.
Manage the operational performance of each country, ensuring that market dynamics and opportunities are capitalized on while risks are mitigated.
Provide strategic guidance to regional and country teams, ensuring alignment with Burn’s global strategy and corporate goals.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight (P&L Management)
Develop, manage, and optimize the global budget and ensure financial alignment with company objectives.
Own the P&L for international operations, monitoring financial performance, controlling costs, and driving profitability across expansion countries.
Work closely with finance teams to ensure financial reports are accurate and timely, enabling data-driven decision-making.
Cross-functional Leadership & Execution
Collaborate with product, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution of business strategies and alignment with global objectives.
Provide leadership across multiple regions to ensure that all teams are focused on achieving commercial goals and operational excellence.
Lead the coordination of international business projects, such as market launches and new product rollouts, ensuring each initiative meets or exceeds KPIs.
Market & Revenue Growth
Work with regional teams to identify new opportunities, manage growth, and ensure the company’s products and services are positioned competitively in each market.
Set clear revenue growth targets and drive accountability for meeting or exceeding these targets across countries.
Ensure that local operations are fully aligned with global strategy while adjusting for market-specific factors.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in global business management, international sales, or a similar role.
Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, P&L, and cost controls.
Familiarity with global product launches and managing large, multi-disciplinary teams across various countries.
Proven track record in developing and executing global business strategies, particularly in the manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of international markets, trade regulations, and cultural nuances.
Excellent strategic thinking and business acumen.
Strong leadership and cross-cultural management skills.
High-level negotiation and partnership management abilities.
Proficiency in market research, forecasting, and risk analysis.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%) to manage international operations.
Experience working in diverse markets such as North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa is an added advantage.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

BURN Manufacturing Co.
BURN is a company dedicated to addressing deforestation and improving cooking efficiency in Sub-Saharan Africa. Its story began in 1990 when Peter Scott, during his travels in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), witnessed the environmental damage caused by charcoal production for household cooking. Motivated by this, Peter committed himself to finding a solution and began designing fuel-efficient stoves.
In 2010, after working as a cookstove consultant in Central America and Sub-Saharan Africa, Peter founded BURN Design Lab and BURN Manufacturing Co. on Vashon Island, Washington. The company initially operated on a limited budget but quickly gathered a team of world-class designers and engineers focused on creating the most efficient cookstoves globally.
By 2014, BURN opened its first full manufacturing facility in Kenya, making it the first and only vertically integrated modern cookstove company in Sub-Saharan Africa. The solar-powered facility now has a production capacity of 400,000 stoves per month and provides jobs for over 2,500 people, with half of the workforce being women.
BURN’s stoves, like the Jikokoa, offer significant social, financial, and environmental benefits. A study by UC Berkeley revealed that a $40 investment in a Jikokoa stove could return $1,000 in societal benefits. Over the next three years, BURN plans to expand its reach to Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, DRC, Nigeria, and Ghana, launch five new products, and increase production capacity to 1 million stoves per month.
