OVERVIEW
The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring the company鈥檚 financial operations align with statutory and regulatory standards. This role includes interfacing with local regulators and tax authorities to ensure compliance with local regulations, while acting as the in-country statutory and regulatory representative. The position is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining regulatory and statutory compliance within the financial department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Compliance: Interface with local regulators and tax authorities to ensure compliance with local regulations, including the preparation of statutory returns and filings.
Regulatory Reporting: Oversee financial reports and ensure compliance with statutory accounting and regulatory requirements, making sure all financial practices align with the regulations of Kenya.
Audit Coordination: Lead the preparation and coordination of external audits, ensuring compliance and the timely delivery of all relevant documentation.
Financial Planning & Reporting: Ensure the accurate preparation of financial reports and manage the reporting cycle effectively within the organization.
Internal Control Management: Develop and enforce internal controls and procedures to mitigate risks, ensuring that financial processes are in place to maintain regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder Management: Act as a liaison between the company, regulatory authorities, and other external stakeholders in matters relating to statutory compliance and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
At least 5 years of experience in a financial control role, with hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, tax filing, and financial reporting.
Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws, financial regulations, and the statutory reporting framework.
Experience with audit preparation and external audits.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and produce accurate, actionable reports.
Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
Previous experience in a multinational company or large financial organization.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders.
