Early Childhood Education (ECE) Coordinator
TextLocation: Nairobi, Kenya
Salary Range: £15,000 - £17,000 per annum

About the Role:
The Early Childhood Education Coordinator will provide technical expertise and oversight for the INSPIRED Project, a UK-funded programme aimed at improving the quality of Early Childhood Education (ECE) and foundational learning for 200,000 children in Kenya, including 100,000 marginalized children in Wajir and Mandera counties. This role focuses on ensuring the programme outputs meet international best practices in ECE, tailored for the local context, and involves working with key partners to deliver effective programme outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise & Oversight: Lead the design and development of high-quality training, teaching, and instructional resources for the INSPIRED project, ensuring alignment with international best practices in ECE while considering local contexts.
Programme Design & Implementation: Oversee the implementation of the ECE models in Wajir and Mandera, ensuring that the models reflect quality standards and are appropriate for the local context.
Policy Support: Contribute to the development of national-level policies on ECE, ensuring that the programme’s content and metrics align with policy reforms and improve ECE outcomes across Kenya.
Collaboration with Partners: Work closely with partners like the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Sight Savers, and others to deliver ECE training and resources effectively across the target counties.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the programme’s success in achieving its objectives, ensuring continuous improvement and adaptability.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Education: A degree in Early Childhood Education, Education Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Education or a relevant discipline is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in ECE, with a strong background in developing and implementing ECE curricula, training teachers, and ensuring quality standards.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Kenyan ECE landscape and international best practices in early childhood education.
Skills: Proven ability to design and implement educational resources, as well as experience in policy development and supporting educational reforms.
Leadership & Collaboration: Experience working with government agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders in a collaborative, multi-partner environment.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methods to assess and improve programme outcomes.
