Job Summary:
The Dean of Studies/Internal Examination Officer will oversee all academic and examination processes in line with the school’s curriculum. The role includes supervising all Academic Heads of Departments and ensuring the smooth running of academic and examination activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and monitor the teaching and learning process to achieve set learning and teaching objectives.
Supervise and allocate duties among teaching staff to ensure balance and alignment with role mandates.
Prepare timetables for exams, lessons, and remedial classes to ensure subject coverage and avoid class clashes.
Coordinate the examination process, ensuring exams are set, reproduced, and implemented, with grades uploaded in the system within set timelines.
Ensure uploaded grades undergo a verification process to ensure accuracy before releasing them to learners.
Monitor lesson delivery and collect attendance data for teachers conducting remedial classes for overtime analysis.
Set targets for teaching staff and implement a reward system to motivate both staff and students to maintain high performance.
Organize benchmarking trips to other schools for lessons, trends, and comparisons to enhance KISC's improvement.
Manage student welfare, focusing on academic, emotional, and physical well-being.
Teach students using prescribed methods in alignment with the set syllabus.
Create assessment timelines and schedule CATs and examinations, ensuring quality formal assessments and marking schemes.
Monitor student enrollment to determine if certain subjects should be eliminated or new ones introduced to fully tap into student potential.
Evaluate the effectiveness of school programs in preparing students for exams and their transition to higher learning.
Communicate with parents regarding academic needs, challenges, and student progress.
Track and monitor class attendance every week, alerting the Head of School of anomalies in student records or teacher absenteeism.
Advise students on course selection for college/university, considering evolving job market trends that influence career choices.
Coordinate the requisition of teaching and learning materials on time.
Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in British Curriculum.
