Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Dean of Students to lead our Tatu Girls campus. This role is perfect for someone passionate about student culture and pastoral care, and who can develop and implement strategies for academic and discipline success. The Dean of Students will work closely with the Principal and teaching teams, focusing on building strong relationships with parents, students, and staff to create a nurturing and high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading School Culture:
Collaborate with the Principal to develop a compelling vision for the school’s culture.
Model and instill high expectations, joy, and a growth mindset.
Lead key school rituals and mentorship programs to enhance culture.
Address classroom/school culture and behavior issues swiftly.
Engage with parents through events, communication, and meetings.
Manage student behavior and coach teachers in behavior management strategies.
Student Support and Empowering Student Voice:
Develop and implement a vision for student leadership.
Manage systems supporting student leadership development.
Listen to student concerns and raise them with administration.
Support student leadership programs and organize student council activities.
Run mentorship, advisory sessions, and skill development programs.
Health and Safety:
Chair the health and safety committee to ensure a safe learning environment.
Organize monthly fire drills and maintain records.
Behavior Management:
Lead the behavior management system, review data on student infractions, and identify trends.
Support teachers in developing strategies for behavior management using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS).
Coordinate with counselors for cases requiring additional support.
Functional Support:
Collaborate with the parent fee support team to manage the gating process.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education (TSC certified).
A Master’s degree in education or social sciences is a plus but not required.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Excellent communication, people management, and project management skills.
Flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and a passion for student character development.
Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-faceted organization.
