Job Summary:
As a Data Engineer at IRC, you will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's data infrastructure, focusing on data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and managing data warehouses and lakehouses. You will build and maintain data pipelines using tools like Databricks, Synapse, and Fabric, ensuring performance, security, and system health.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop Python, SQL, and PySpark-based applications and data flows within Databricks.
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using DBT and Databricks.
Design real-time and batch data processing systems to support analytics and business needs.
Monitor data pipelines for performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Address issues and bottlenecks to ensure smooth operation.
Optimize data delivery mechanisms and redesign pipelines for improvements.
Manage and maintain Azure cloud services, monitoring alerts to ensure system availability.
Minimum Requirements:
Strong proficiency in SQL (required).
Some experience with Python (preferred).
Exposure to Databricks (a significant advantage).
Experience in a cloud environment (Azure preferred).
Experience with DBT Core or DBT Cloud (a major plus).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Additional Requirements:
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
Databricks Data Engineer Certification or similar qualifications.
Software development experience.
Key Working Relationships:
Reports to: Data Architect
Supervises: None
Key internal relationships: Data Team, Enterprise systems owners, Technical, and Analytics teams.
Key external relationships: None specified.
Travel Requirements:
Special projects may require occasional travel.
Working Environment:
Remote work is possible; the position is flexible but must be within an IRC country of operation.
Compensation:
Salary range applies to UK-based candidates. Offers are calibrated based on location and individual experience.
