Role Overview:
Reporting to the Group Head of Marketing, Corporate Affairs and Communication, the Corporate Affairs Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the OM corporate brand and reputation. The Manager will support enrolments, client service, government and media relations, issues and crisis management, production of flagship publications, and other key marketing and communications collateral. The role also involves providing advisory support to the Group Company Secretary/ Legal Counsel and managing internal communications, along with overseeing the performance and development of a small team.
Key Result Areas:
Develop and implement the annual Corporate Marketing and Communications Strategy in line with Old Mutual’s strategic plan.
Manage reputation by identifying and mitigating potential issues.
Support the development of Old Mutual's social responsibility strategy.
Lead the development and execution of the organization’s CSR strategy in collaboration with EA Marketing.
Build and nurture strategic partnerships for shared value and fundraising opportunities.
Engage with institutions and authorities to identify and implement community projects.
Develop crisis management strategies to safeguard the organization’s reputation.
Prepare project proposals, reports, and presentations for management and the Board of Trustees.
Monitor budgets and ensure proper management of expenditures.
Collaborate with procurement and finance for timely preparation of invoices, LPO’s, payments, and grants.
Ensure compliance with OML Group STR Policy deliverables.
Foster strong organizational culture through staff engagement with the Human Capital team.
Ensure visibility for Old Mutual through effective use of traditional and digital media channels.
Manage the Stakeholder Relations calendar for events and meetings.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
At least 5 years of relevant experience, with experience in the financial services industry being an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
A relevant professional qualification, such as Corporate Citizenship Certificate, is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities with high personal integrity.
Good business acumen and understanding of the market.
Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
