Job Overview:
The Compliance Officer will play a key role in supporting a compliant and ethical work environment in IRC's Kenya Country Program. This includes promoting awareness of IRC's Code of Conduct, investigating alleged wrongdoing, and ensuring compliance with IRC policies, local laws, and donor guidelines. The officer will oversee compliance activities, conduct investigations, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions, contributing to a culture of integrity across all IRC operations in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigation & Assessment: Conduct screenings, investigations, and assessments of complaints, including drafting documents, interviews, and identifying evidence.
Compliance Reviews: Review systems and processes to ensure compliance with IRC policies, local laws, and donor regulations.
Reporting & Recommendations: Prepare and present investigation reports, findings, and recommendations to management, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Training & Awareness: Design and facilitate training to promote integrity and ethical compliance, fostering a culture of reporting and responsiveness.
Partnership Management: Review partner agreements and contracts to ensure compliance with IRC policies.
Collaboration & Coordination: Work with various departments to ensure compliance with audit requirements and recommendations.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Law, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in compliance or a related field.
Skills:
Strong planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and report critical information.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Kiswahili is a plus).
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel).
Ability to work independently and respond to changing priorities.
