COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER – BRAND AND ADVERTISING AT CIC

PURPOSE

Reporting to the Group Head of Marketing & Communication, the Communications Manager – Brand and Advertising will oversee the development, implementation, and management of all brand and advertising strategies. The goal is to enhance brand equity, drive customer acquisition, and foster loyalty while ensuring consistent messaging across platforms. The ideal candidate will bring a strong marketing, advertising, and brand management background, with experience in the insurance industry being a plus.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Brand Strategy & Development
  • Develop and implement brand strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Ensure consistency in brand messaging, tone, and identity across all communications.

  • Drive brand positioning, differentiation, and market analysis to boost brand awareness.

  • Create and enforce branding guidelines across channels and touchpoints.

Advertising & Campaign Management
  • Plan, develop, and manage impactful advertising campaigns across various media channels.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to create innovative campaigns.

  • Monitor campaign performance, analyzing metrics like ROI and brand sentiment, and adjust strategies as needed.

Media Buying
  • Media Planning: Develop effective media plans based on campaign objectives, target audiences, and budgets.

  • Negotiation: Secure competitive rates and value-added opportunities with media vendors.

  • Budget Management: Allocate budgets effectively across platforms.

  • Ad Placement: Schedule advertisements, ensuring timely delivery of creative assets.

  • Campaign Monitoring: Track campaign performance and optimize spending to enhance outcomes.

Market Research & Strategy
  • Conduct research to understand audience behavior and media trends.

  • Stay updated on trends in media buying, digital marketing, and programmatic advertising.

  • Foster relationships with media vendors to identify future opportunities.

Digital Marketing
  • Manage social media, SEO/SEM, email marketing, and content creation strategies to increase brand engagement.

  • Collaborate with the digital team to create engaging content aligned with the brand’s identity.

  • Monitor the brand’s online presence and engage with customers to build loyalty.

Budgeting & Financial Management
  • Develop and oversee the brand and advertising budget.

  • Ensure campaigns are cost-effective and within financial constraints.

  • Provide transparent expenditure reporting.

Partnerships & Sponsorships
  • Identify and manage partnerships that align with brand objectives.

  • Leverage partnerships to enhance brand visibility and reach new customer segments.

Team Management
  • Lead and mentor a team of marketing professionals, fostering productivity and alignment with brand goals.

  • Collaborate with sales, product development, and customer service teams to ensure consistent branding.

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES

Academic and Professional Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

  • Professional Qualification: Certifications in Marketing (e.g., CIM).

Experience Required
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum of 8 years in brand and advertising management.

Skills and Competencies
  • Proven success in executing brand and advertising campaigns.

  • Strong understanding of the Kenyan market and customer preferences.

  • Leadership and team management expertise.

  • Proficiency in data-driven marketing and interpreting consumer insights.

  • Experience with external agencies, creative teams, and media planning.

  • Strong project management and multitasking skills.

  • Expertise in digital marketing, including social media.

  • Financial acumen and budget management skills.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
