Project Overview and Role:
The USAID Feed the Future Kenya Private Sector Activity (KPSA) is a $48 million project funded by USAID and implemented by Palladium. KPSA aims to stimulate inclusive economic growth in Kenya by collaborating with agricultural, health, and other sectors. The project will mobilize $400 million in finance, create jobs, increase exports, and improve healthcare access from 2024 to 2029.
The Communications Assistant will support the communication and branding aspects of the project, assist in media relations, and help organize project events and workshops.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in developing project deliverables, including weekly, quarterly, and annual reports, work plans, and other project documents.
Support in maintaining appropriate branding and marking for all communication tools.
Help design and roll out various communication tools like websites, videos, press releases, flyers, and more to communicate project activities and results.
Maintain a digital project library, including communication tools, photos, and event documentation.
Support media relations for the project, including publicizing activities and responding to press queries.
Help maintain a close working relationship with USAID and U.S. Embassy teams on communication efforts.
Support the planning and execution of project events and workshops in collaboration with project teams.
Assist with Short-Term Technical Assistance (STTA) for communications tasks such as graphic design, video production, and photography.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Communications Manager.
Position Requirements:
Degree in communications, international development, marketing, or a relevant field.
3-4 years of experience in communications, outreach, and/or marketing, ideally with a USAID project.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and judgment skills.
Professional and mature demeanor in the workplace.
