Co-operative Bank continues to embrace technological advancements, and we are now seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to leverage the Corporate Private Cloud for the Bank. This role is perfect for a versatile professional experienced in Cloud Operations and development.
Job Purpose:
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the administration, development, and maintenance of the corporate private cloud, which includes managing hypervisors (VMware), servers, operating systems, storage, and other system administration tasks. You will ensure uptime, disaster recovery, business continuity, and the implementation of security standards. Reporting to the Head of Network & Infrastructure Support, you will play a key role in the continued optimization and transformation of the Bank's cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage the performance of the bank's ICT infrastructure to ensure reliability and consistency, meeting business SLAs.
Monitoring & Support: Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, including SNMP, logs, events, and general system health, and provide proactive remedial support.
System Upgrades & Maintenance: Plan and implement product upgrades, antivirus updates, routine preventive measures, and patch releases for all ICT assets.
Policy Development: Develop, maintain, and enforce policies for device access, data transmission, storage, backup, security, and business continuity in line with best practices and compliance standards.
Cloud System Design: Design and implement systems for mission-critical business applications, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Research & Innovation: Stay current with external technical trends and industry developments, focusing on server load balancing, virtualization, security, and cloud technologies to improve system performance and functionality.
Consultation & Leadership: Act as a thought-leader and consultant on technical planning issues, lead cross-functional teams, and facilitate mission-critical projects.
System Documentation: Define and document system architecture components, including hardware platforms, operating systems, and related technologies.
Issue Resolution: Attend to system failures, resolve issues promptly, and support hardware and software infrastructure as needed.
Vendor Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, consultants, and external service providers to ensure seamless service delivery.
Security Management: Assess security risks, implement necessary security measures, and ensure minimal external threats to the bank’s information resources.
Team & Vendor Coordination: Manage internal staff and external vendors to ensure timely delivery of services and zero interruptions to business operations.
Desired Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Operations, and Development.
Certifications: MCSE, VMware, Redhat, EMC, Cisco certifications are required.
Technical Skills:
Strong systems knowledge and design skills.
Ability to analyze, learn, and apply rapidly changing technologies in integrated solutions for business requirements.
Good project management/consulting and leadership skills.
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure management and system security.
Leadership & Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to lead or facilitate mission-critical projects and resolve complex technical issues.
Communication: Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of industry standards, concepts, and regulations.

Co-operative Bank
The Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited is incorporated in Kenya under the Company Act and is also licensed to do the business of banking under the Banking Act. The Bank was initially registered under the Co-operative Societies Act at the point of founding in 1965. This status was retained up to and until June 27th 2008 when the Bank's Special General Meeting resolved to incorporate under the Companies Act with a view to complying with the requirements for listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
