Job Purpose:
The Chief Audit & Quality Assurance Officer leads the internal audit function at AFC. The role involves overseeing audit strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of operational processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit Strategy and Planning:
Develop and execute a risk-based audit strategy aligned with institutional goals.
Plan and coordinate audit activities to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Quality Assurance Oversight:
Maintain a quality assurance program for internal audit activities.
Review audit processes, methodologies, and reports for adherence to professional standards.
Team Leadership:
Lead and manage the internal audit team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay informed on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Ensure that audit activities and reports comply with all regulatory requirements.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess risks associated with institutional operations.
Develop risk-based audit plans and methodologies.
Audit Execution:
Oversee internal audits, ensuring thorough and objective evaluations.
Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance structures.
Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Provide insights to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in internal audit processes.
Implement best practices and leverage technology to enhance audit efficiency.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Work closely with other departments to ensure an integrated approach to risk management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Certifications: CPAK and membership in a professional body in good standing. CIA or equivalent preferred.
Experience: At least 9 years in internal audit, risk management, or a related field within the financial industry.
Leadership: A leadership course from a recognized institution is an advantage.
Skills: Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies, regulatory requirements, leadership skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, and analytical abilities.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with audit management software and tools.
