Role Overview:
The Charging Network Product Manager will be responsible for researching, developing, and deploying the future of EV charging solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. This role involves managing the charging user experience, partnerships, product specifications, and operationalizing digital tools to meet BasiGo’s business objectives. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial thinker who can navigate strategy and implementation across the EV and energy storage sectors while considering the dynamics of African transport and energy markets.
Responsibilities:
Product Development:
Design and manage a seamless charging experience for all users, including hardware and user interface specifications, payment and data management, and sales and support processes.
Develop a deep understanding of trends in EV charging, energy generation, and management.
Research customer needs and preferences to develop an industry-leading EV charging service.
Market Strategy:
Conduct market and industry research to develop a data-driven pricing and network expansion strategy.
Identify new revenue generation opportunities via the charging network and fleet operation.
Negotiate, manage, and expand partnerships in the EV charging value chain.
Monitor the performance of the charging network, both economically and technically.
Competitive Landscape & Internal Strategy:
Understand the competitive landscape of diesel vs. electric-powered competition.
Facilitate internal buy-in and decision-making around charging strategies.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications & Experience:
Education & Experience:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in Product Management, particularly in the EV or energy sectors.
Experience in techno-economic modeling in the energy or transport sectors.
Expertise in managing business relationships with technology suppliers and partners.
Knowledge of financial modeling and end-user financing structures.
Understanding of energy and transport markets, and regulatory frameworks.
Skills & Attitude:
Strong communication and business development skills.
Ability to collaborate with engineering, marketing, operations, and finance teams.
Comfort with ambiguity in new product development.
Analytical and data-driven approach to product development.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building new products and business opportunities.
