The Opportunity
Join a dynamic team dedicated to supporting local entrepreneurs in Kakuma and Lodwar. As a Business Development Advisor, you'll have the chance to directly contribute to the growth of micro and small businesses, creating jobs and fostering community development. Key Responsibilities
Client Mobilization (10%):
Identify and enroll entrepreneurs based on program criteria.
Communicate program details to community participants and ensure message clarity.
Act as an Inkomoko Ambassador, establishing outreach to local structures and stakeholders.
Provide advice on participant eligibility, ensuring cultural and business compatibility.
Training (40%):
Ensure entrepreneurs are informed and attend all relevant training sessions.
Coordinate training logistics, including material preparation, venue setup, and attendance tracking.
Deliver training in Kiswahili, English, and local languages, using Inkomoko materials.
Provide feedback to the Senior Trainer regarding necessary updates to training modules.
Ensure all training programs are completed within budget and time constraints.
Business Consulting & Client Relationship Management (40%):
Conduct intake assessments, track client progress, and update records in the electronic system.
Perform monthly site visits to assess business needs and provide advice on improvements.
Offer strategic guidance to help clients enhance business sustainability and profitability.
Connect clients with additional Inkomoko services such as further training and access to finance.
Collaborate with investment colleagues to assist clients with investment applications and credit assessments.
Community Activities Coordination & Administration (10%):
Build and maintain relationships with local authorities and partners.
Provide timely reports and updates to the team.
Represent Inkomoko at community stakeholder meetings and assist with organizing local events.
Support M&E team with surveys, data collection, and administrative tasks.
What We Are Looking For
Skills:
Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong relationship-building skills (coaching, listening, trust).
Excellent communication abilities in English and Kiswahili, with fluency in the local language a plus.
Financial and accounting literacy; familiarity with business financial policies in Kenya.
Ability to adapt and thrive in a high-pressure, results-driven environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications:
University degree (or currently pursuing) in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
Must be based in Kakuma or Lodwar.
Access to a smartphone 24/7 is a plus.
The candidate should not currently be employed by any other organization.
