Purpose of the Role:
The BD Officer (Initiate) will play a crucial role in supporting IRC’s newly launched global Business Development strategy. This strategy includes driving a major institutional funding campaign, particularly for IRC’s cross-organizational Movement Against Malnutrition (MAM). The role involves developing proactive approaches for public business development focused on IRC’s priority program outcomes across sectors such as health, education, and economic wellbeing.
Major Responsibilities:
Strategy:
Collaborate with the Initiate Funding Director to establish the team and define ways of working.
Lead specific actions from the Public Funding Strategy.
Mobilize engagement across IRC regions, technical units, private funding, and advocacy.
BD Global Public Funding for MAM:
Coordinate business development plans and support MAM delivery.
Prepare materials for donor engagement and influence for MAM funding.
Represent IRC at external meetings and events.
Develop updates on BD activities and progress.
BD for Priority Program Outcomes:
Conduct competitive analysis and partner mapping for priority program outcomes.
Develop materials and tools to support strong BD outcomes.
Monitor and report on BD progress against targets.
Program Coordination with Technical Teams:
Coordinate the technical units’ strategic pipeline.
Facilitate regular pipeline reviews and planning.
Public and Private Funding Collaboration:
Establish coordination with private fundraising colleagues.
Advise on strengthening IRC systems between AMU and External Relations.
Flexible Support for BD Technical Assistance:
Develop BD tools, guidelines, and training.
Provide flexible support in improving BD processes.
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
Required:
Experience in humanitarian or development business development, donor relations, policy, or advocacy.
Knowledge of working with humanitarian and development donors.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
Additional language skills (particularly French or Spanish).
