The Purpose of the Role
Support IRC’s Initiate Funding strand in the newly launched global Business Development strategy. The role involves driving a major institutional funding campaign for IRC’s Movement Against Malnutrition (MAM) and implementing innovative approaches for proactive public BD, focusing on IRC’s most important program priorities such as health, education, and economic well-being.
Major Responsibilities
Strategy
Collaborate with the Initiate Funding Director to establish the Initiate team, define ways of working, and set up structures for successful delivery of the Public Funding Strategy.
Lead specified Initiate actions within the Public Funding Strategy.
Mobilize and influence engagement with the Initiate strategy across IRC regions, technical units, public business development, private funding, and advocacy.
BD Global Public Funding for Movement Against Malnutrition (MAM)
Coordinate and support the delivery of business development plans for MAM.
Work with the Initiate Funding Director and Donor Engagement teams to prepare materials for effective donor engagement and influence.
Represent IRC at external meetings, events, and forums.
Develop regular updates on BD activities and share learnings with key internal stakeholders.
Coordinate with IRC stakeholders to achieve MAM funding goals.
BD for Priority Program Outcomes
Lead competitive analysis, partner mapping, and donor priority analysis across 5 priority program outcome areas.
Coordinate with technical, geographic, and donor engagement teams to develop materials and tools for strong BD outcomes.
Monitor and report on BD progress against objectives and targets.
Support the development of proactive bids and document BD processes, including positioning, capture, and unsolicited funding responses.
Program Coordination with Technical Teams (Tech Ex)
Facilitate coordination of the technical units’ strategic pipeline, supporting BD strategy and technical unit strategies.
Plan and review the strategic pipeline with HQ program units.
Coordinate unsolicited and globally flexible bid opportunities, supporting internal competition processes as needed.
Public and Private Funding Collaboration
Establish regular coordination with private fundraising colleagues as part of the global BD strategy.
Advise on improving the interoperability of IRC systems between AMU and External Relations, including process and data use.
Flexible Support for BD Technical Assistance
Develop and improve BD tools, guidelines, learnings, and training.
Provide flexible support to the BD Associate in improving the BD process manual and its rollout.
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
Experience
Experience in humanitarian or development business development, donor relations, policy, or advocacy.
Experience working with US and/or European humanitarian and development donors.
Skills
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the development of briefing documents.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate positively in a fast-paced environment with multiple partners.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Experience & Skills
Proficiency in French or Spanish is an advantage.
Compensation
The posted pay ranges apply to UK-based candidates. Exact offers are calibrated based on work location, individual candidate experience, and skills relative to job requirements.
