Nakuru County Government
Nakuru County, located in Kenya's Rift Valley, has a rich history, evolving from a colonial settlement into a vibrant administrative region. It is divided into nine sub-counties, including Naivasha, Gilgil, and Nakuru, and each is further subdivided into wards.
Agriculture forms the backbone of Nakuru's economy, with major crops like maize, potatoes, tea, and flowers. Dairy farming and industrial activities, particularly in horticulture, also contribute significantly. The county is home to over 146 industrial plants and a large informal sector.
Under Governor Susan Kihika, Nakuru County focuses on infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment. The County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2018-2022 guides its growth, aiming to improve service delivery and economic opportunities.
Culturally and politically, Nakuru plays a significant role in Kenya’s landscape, with its diverse population and growing urban center, Nakuru Town. The county continues to expand its influence through strategic governance and development initiatives.
