Actuarial Associate

Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Actuarial Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Actuarial unit in conducting data analysis, experience investigations, business projections, and technical liability valuation for the assigned line of business (LOB).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with assigned segments to prepare valuation data.

  • Ensure timely and accurate calculation of insurance technical liabilities for monthly financial reporting and conduct Reserve Adequacy Tests.

  • Perform monthly solvency calculations.

  • Conduct experience investigations, such as expenses analysis, product portfolio performance, and intermediary loss ratios.

  • Prepare data for annual business planning, strategy reviews, capital management, and stress testing projections.

  • Assist in compiling data for management and board reports.

  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or a related field with strong mathematical proficiency.

  • Progress in Actuarial exams (at least 2 papers completed).

  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency in statistical techniques and tools.

  • Understanding of the Kenyan insurance industry and reinsurance arrangements.

  • Familiarity with programming or statistical software (e.g., SAS, Visual Basic).

  • Experience with database management systems.
