Accountant - Payables

Band/Level: Officer
Location: Head Office
Contract Terms: Open-Ended
Application Deadline: January 6, 2025

Job Purpose

Ensure timely and accurate payment of suppliers and statutory obligations while managing the procure-to-pay process effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Payments (80%)

  • Process supplier and statutory payments promptly and accurately.

  • Ensure proper accounting for both internal and external payments.

  • Maintain and review the payments tracker.

  • Analyze costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Handle taxes related to supplier payments.

  • Address internal and external customer queries within SLA timelines.

  • Remit collected taxes to KRA-CBK accounts.

Other Responsibilities (20%)

  • Resolve audit and risk issues.

  • Adhere to and apply established policies, procedures, and tools consistently.

  • Identify and implement improvements to controls, procedures, and systems for fraud prevention.

  • Properly file and archive documents.

  • Suppliers

  • Branches and Other Departments

  • Kenya Revenue Authority

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of the Bank’s policies and procedures.

  • High level of computer literacy and familiarity with business computing environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field from a recognized university.

  • Professional qualification in CPA/ACCA (required to have started).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a similar role.
